Quartzsite's seventh-grader, Zachary Behrendt, was nominated and has been accepted by the People to People (Student) Ambassador Program. Zachary has fully qualified to participate in this summer's student ambassador program which departs July 10, 2009 for a sixteen day trip to China. Zachary, with his mother's support, has already raised $2,500 of the $5,999 sponsor fee, and he must raise another $3,499 in 30 days, by April 10th, 2009.

The Quartzsite Chamber of Commerce is joining with Horizon Community Bank, Desert Messenger newspaper other local sponsors to help Zachary raise the remainder monies he needs to make his spectacular trip happen. Zachary is already studying Chinese culture, religious history, and the language. Join us to make this student's international initiative come true.
